Variegated (or multicolored) thread changes it's color every certain number of stitches. For example, it can start from yellow, gradually turn into orange color, and so on. Each small "cut" of single thread is colored in different color. When you embroider the right design with multicolored thread, the effect can be absolutely stunning. Even a most boring single-color design embroidered in variegated thread, may turn out absolutely stunning. Another great use for multicolored thread is quilting - for freehand decorating of quilt blocks or even ready quilts.
Each of the 24 cones in this thread kit is a different color combination - there are NO duplicates.

Thread weight is 40 wt. The quality is awesome. It looks a bit thicker than other 40wt thread brands we've tried, and this bit of extra volume seems to have very good impact on embroideries. The designs come out dimensional and beautiful. This difference is especially noticeable on towels.
In reality they look even more beautiful. Unfortunately our camera doesn't manage to capture all the luster and rich look of this thread. You'll be stunned to see actual embroideries, after trying the thread.
Each cone has a small plastic leg. They are steady, leg diameter is 1.6 inches, cone height is 2.7 inches. Because of the proper leg shape and size, the thread unwinds and feeds up well.
The cones come with neat red caps that can lock thread ends and prevent your thread from unwinding while you aren't embroidering.

It's very strong, smooth 40 wt polyester. This thread is exceptionally shiny and colorfast. Perfect for items that require frequent laundry, are exposed to sun or moisture - like kids clothing, bed & table linens.
